Laminated timer beams interlink in cruciform structures which combine to form the roof plane of this canteen for the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/560" class="inline_link">Technical University. Facades remain open where possible. Timber posts support not the extremities of the beams but their centre. Though the pattern of beams overhead creates a variety of subspaces in its subdivision of the canteen's open zone this play of squares is nevertheless more enthralling on paper than it is in reality.
