BUILDING TYPE:
Government buildings

In this building once housing the Ministry of Education and Science, 2500 civil servants occupied nine volumes with a total nett surface area of some 42,000 m2. These volumes are interlinked by octagonal corridors and a number of bridges. The architect sought to soften the transition between work and living environments by gearing the height of the different volumes to the surrounding housing and effecting a continuation of the local road system. With all facades sporting identical aluminium panelling, the loose assemblage of building parts reads as a single entity. In 2004 the ministry moved to the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1782" class="inline_link">Hoftoren in The Hague.
