The Molenvliet district is a project of 123 social housing units built to SAR principles. It combines two-storey downstairs units with upstairs units beneath a sloping roof along an access gallery. The fixed support structure consists of floors and walls, roofs, roof terraces, galleries and service ducts. The 'infill kits', which included the facades, were assembled following discussion with the future occupants. Flexibility in arranging floor plans proved limited as the units were on the small side. And because two adjoining units were seldom vacant simultaneously, the intended flexibility among units also failed to materialize. In 1995 the district was renovated, bringing a greater degree of unity among facades, solving various technical problems and truncating the window piers.
